Tibidabo - Barcelona, Spain

Overview of Barcelona - Tibidabo Amusement Park

Mount Tibidabo is one of the famous mountains located above the city of Barcelona, which offers amazing views of the city and sea at 512 meters of altitude. The mountain is just outside the city center, and can be easily reached either by hiking (by those more courageous) or by public transportation from anywhere in the city, the catching the famous funicular or tram to make your way up the mountain.
At the top there is a beautiful church, Sagrat Cor (Sacred Heart, in Catalan) and picture perfect places to have picnics or simply relax while looking over the fantastic views of the city. What does this have to do with amusement parks, you may ask? Well there’s the surprise. Up on the very top of the mountain, next to the church, is the Tibidabo amusement park. It was built back in 1899, making it one of the oldest amusement parks in the world still functioning. It has around 25 attractions from children and adults alike, and is sure to offer a day full of fun for all. Built on one of the highest points of the city, although small, it is most definitely a marvelous and unique experience, one you will not encounter in many places around the world. I promise you the Ferris Wheel will be the ride of a life time, with sensational views over both land and seas (as long as you are not afraid of heights!). For those more curious, there is a small photo gallery with a small trip through the history of the amusement park and its construction, and about all the different placed that can be seen up from its unique vantage point.
