Barcelona is one of the favourite destinations for the tourists from all over the world. In fact, the town has all the characteristics we look for when we want to forget the day-to-day life: beach, mountain, culture, gastronomy, activities…

If you want to escape from the crowd during your holidays and visit a charming district where there are many small bars and restaurants, we recommend you to get away from the centre and go to the Sants district, in the western part of the catalan capital. With very good transport offers, it’s a perfect place for families and for all the people who enjoy walking and discovering a town by foot.

Don´t hesitate and book now your Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation tickets and let’s (re)discover Barcelona!

A district which is like a village

Street in Sants

If Sants has such a specific character, it’s because of its History. It was a village built all around the Santa María dels Sants church and most of its inhabitants were farmers who grew wheat and olives. However, what shaped the district was the industrial development during the XIXth century: factories and houses were built in the centre of the village so the aspect of the place completely changed to become one of the main industrial zones of Spain. Sants expanded a lot and so did its district Barcelona too. They finally merged and Sants became a district of the catalan capital. Nevertheless, it still has a popular style and atmosphere.

The España Industrial park of Barcelona

The España Industrial park

To really enjoy the atmosphere and the story of the district, you must visit the España Industrial park. It is located on a place which was one day the first textile factory in Barcelona in 1847. This factory was then moved and the structure turned into houses and a park which, in 1985, was awarded with the FAD of Architecture and interior design prize. The last changes date from 2009 and are inspired by the four elements.

The Sants festival

Parks in Sants

If you travel in August, you cannot miss the Sants festival! In fact, this small district has its own festival which will break your habits thanks to its disguised inhabitants, its musical activities, and the famous Alternative Festival in the España Industrial park, and many stands so you can enjoy junk food and beer during all the week ;)
