Reading a good book is one of the best things you can do during a train journey and even more if the book is referring to your destination.

Today, we suggest combining your train journey with the novel of Dan Brown and discover cities such as Barcelona or Madrid. You should start reading this novel on board of one of our high-speed trains of Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation.

With more than 100 million copies sold and 3 films of great success, it is no surprising that, each time a novel about Robert Langdon is released, it is a great success. The triumph of Robert Langdon began in 2003 with the Da Vinci Code that today is one of the most recognized literary (and cinematographic) sagas worldwide.

Thus, it is easy to understand why the announcement of the fifth book of this saga, a story based on Spain, was a big event. Did you know that the architect Antoni Gaudí and some of his works have a special role in this new adventure?

In the movie, the main character of this novel is interpreted by Tom Hanks and visits emblematic places like the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, where the story begins. Later on, he moves to Barcelona, and more specifically to the Casa Milà, a spectacular building designed by Antoni Gaudí. Nowadays, this building continues to astonish with its shapes and beauty more than two millions of visitors from all over the world each year.

If it comes to emblematic monuments of Barcelona, none of them is like the Sagrada Familia, the impressive Basilica that Gaudí started to build in 1889 and that is expected to be completed in 2026, just in time to commemorate the centenary of the death of this great architect born in Reus (in the province of Tarragona). By then, the Sagrada Familia will become, with its 170-meter-high, the tallest church in Europe.

Other places that appear in the novel are the Royal Palace and the Cathedral of Almudena in Madrid, but also the Abbey of Montserrat, which is close to Barcelona. In the last two scenes, you will perceive Dan Brown's predilection to include religious themes in his books. In the Royal Palace, the former residence of the kings of Spain, and nowadays used exclusively in some special occasions, certain member of the Spanish monarchy is described and he will surely remind you of the current King of Spain.

It seems quite feasible that this new adventure of Robert Langdon will be shown as a movie, as it already happened with other novels such as The Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons or Inferno. It is possible that we can enjoy a new collaboration between Tom Hanks and the director Ron Howard, who have starred and directed the previous three films.

We do not want to disclose much of the book’s plot but we can guarantee that -in case the film becomes reality- some of the scenes will be very spectacular and emotive and will also be located in some of the most beautiful places of the Spanish geography.

However, while we await that this film becomes a reality, Origin becomes the perfect novel to read when you are traveling to Barcelona, Madrid or any other destinations that you can reach with the High-Speed trains of Renfe-SNCF in Cooperation. Put the book in your suitcase and enjoy it!
