Historic City Centre

Enclosed by Roman walls, the medieval historic centre captivates visitors with its surrounding streets and Gothic cathedral.

Furthermore, several monuments featuring various architectural styles can be visited, such as the former Hospital de Santa Tecla, the Jewish district, Casa Canals, Casa Castellarnau or the modernist Casa Ripoll.


This large open-air museum is part of the city's archaeological complex and has been designated World Heritage by UNESCO.

The amphitheatre of ancient Tarraco is unique due to its location on the shores of the Mediterranean. The amphitheatre features at its very center the remainings of the floor plan of a Visigothic basilica.

Rambla Nova

Rambla Nova is the city's main central avenue. It runs through the modern city of Tarragona from the south-east to the north-east, starting at the Imperial Tarraco square and all the way to the Balcony of the Mediterranean.

Several modernist buildings are worth visiting on the Rambla, such as Casa Salas or the Neoclassical Edifici de l'Enher. A street market is held every Tuesday and Thursday along the Rambla.
